The Golden Egg

It was a special day, it was Easter and I was the Golden Egg.  My new mom and dad had to look for eggs and when they found out what the golden one was, they cried. It was a happy cry. They seemed surprised and happy.  Inside each of the eggs they found, there was a message from all the grandkids.  I heard them read the messages.
Inside read:
(1) Life is sometimes a puzzle, so after you find all 5 pieces, we can test your skill of puzzle making. Hope you find all 7 eggs. Simple things like tradition are handed down family to family. Thank you for giving us traditions and memories, the best are yet to come. Easter Blessings!! Love Always. Hannah
  1. 2. As the youngest of the bunch, I must say… you have a lot of love coming your way from all 8 of us grandkids. It’s our turn to do something special.. for you, because we always want you to remember how special you are to us!! Kisses! Amanda.
(3) Have you found all 5 of your puzzle pieces?  When you do try to piece it together, you’ll find a pretty picture of those who love you dearly… wishing you well this Easter and always!!  Hugs to you, Emily

(4) I am part of a puzzle with 5 pieces… I wish you a Happy Easter, We’re so glad your back safe, we missed you. Love you lots, Melanie,

(5) Hi grandpa and Grandma: do you like my new haircut? I wish I were there to wish you a happy Easter! You’re in my thoughts always!! I miss you! OOOXXX Always Bryant

(6)The best of the bunch can’t be with you today, but we want you to know our thoughts are home with you. Grandpa we want you to get well, heel quickly, and come back strong… we still need you!! Happy Easter Grandma and Grandpa, With love, wishes, Ashley and Jayme (p.s.) we are not part of the puzzle

(7)You’ll notice a piece of the puzzle is missing… One thing is for sure, our family is whole, and a true work of art. We are so lucky for all we have.. each and every one of us!  TO complete the puzzle and find the missing piece you’ll have to do some “real” detective work! In the back yard you will find your Easter basket. Grandma and Grandpa we wish you love and happiness, and want to share those things with you always. God Bless you! Auburne
Outside on the bench was another egg. A golden egg!!  Which is where I came in! My new dad said,” it’s empty”. Everyone said look at the pine tree.  Out came Brenda carrying ME!!  Hooray,  I am a Golden Egg.!! I don’t look like an egg, do I?
More tears!!!  Crying, Sobbing!! Amanda, the little one  sobbing loudly, said “this was supposed to be happy”!!  Everyone laughed!  Rhonda announced, “Ok, one more thing we have a card from all of us also!! My new mom started to read it and broke down, so Rhonda finished reading…
It’s hard to put into words all the thoughts and feelings we all went through watching you grieve for Peggy, and now knowing your health is not stable.  Our gift of the puppy was a collaborative effort. It’s not meant to replace Peggy, because we want to be there to keep her love and memories alive with you. This puppy is our love for you in a growing living thing, a loving gesture to help in the healing process with the medical developments you are about to endure.  How she will need walking, good exercise for you both... and she will need cuddling, a great relaxer for you both... she will listen when you need to let steam out, she will never talk back, and she will love you just as you are, and never ask for more.  We’re going to think of her as the “family” dog.  A gift from all of us. For all of us to love. We already feel she was destined to be with us.. hope you’ll feel the same. We love you so much!!
Sara said” What’s a  relaxer?? I am not!! I am a Golden Egg.
